Center Ideas: 5-with-5: Laura Taylor

Headshot of Laura Taylor

Laura Taylor is Deputy Director of the Region 5 Comprehensive Center. In her role, she supports the R5CC’s efforts to provide capacity-building services to state education agencies (SEAs) and support educators and programs throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Laura sat down with us to answer five questions.

  • One

What’s one thing you find especially fulfilling about your work with the R5CC?

I find the people to be the most fulfilling part of the Comprehensive Center – working with people with a common interest in supporting all children is energizing. The work is never static, so it’s fun (and challenging) to be ready for anything!

  • Two

What’s one thing you wish others knew or understood about the work of the R5CC?

We are here to help and to not be a burden. We also have a large national network of experts ready to connect, engage, and support.

  • Three

What’s one recent accomplishment of which you are especially proud?

We have an updated showcasing our impact and ideas, our team, and our collective successes. Check it out!

  • Four

You can recommend one (1) podcast to a friend who will actually listen it. What’s the podcast?

I listen to The Daily nearly every morning – I don’t watch much TV (I’m too tired at night), so it’s a great way to get the topical news of the day and deep dive into stories from around the world.

  • Five

What’s one goal you have for the R5CC in the coming year?

To continue spreading the word about the good work happening across our four states, and connecting with others who share our mission!
